The Petrified Forest National Park has a north entrance off of I-40, where the Painted Desert Visitor's Center is located. There is also a south entrance off of US 180, where the Rainbow Forest Museum is located. We spent the night in Holbrook, AZ and then drove to the south entrance. Then we drove north through the park to the Painted Desert Visitor's Center.
